♡ Photographer, Stylist, Adventurer, Instagram Influencer and mega babe fighting PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). ♡
Tell us a little bit about your story – where are you & how did you get there?
Thank you so much for having me on your series! I am a Brisbane based Fashion Photographer / Stylist / Content Creator with a big love of nature and the bohemian lifestyle. I’ve worked within the Fashion and Creative Industries for about 15 years and I love styling bold colours, vintage prints and natural fibres. I fell in love with photography about 10 years ago at university and after dabbling in weddings and portraits I pursued Fashion Photography with a bright and boho vibe. Today I work with beautiful brands to create colourful, natural images.
You are an instagram influencer, a photographer and run a business called Folk and Fawn. Tell us what inspired you to do what you do?
I’ve always loved fashion and several years ago I decided to style my shoots using real women, with natural light and natural bodies (no photoshop edits). My personal Instagram account came much later. After years of styling and encouraging women to celebrate their own bodies I decided to try to take my own advice. I’m fighting PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) which causes weight gain, and it can be tough finding boho dresses for a plus sized body! I realised I’m not the only one on the hunt for curvy fashion so I started posting pictures of my boho finds and ended up connecting with a beautiful community of women of all sizes!
What advice would you give to other women looking at pursuing their passions?
There’s no time like the present! Life is short and you want to spend your time doing something that makes you happy. It could take some time so be patient, and all the more reason to get started now. Definitely do your research. Talk to other people who have been down the same path. Get as much experience as you can! No road is easy so expect mistakes, hurdles and setbacks. These aren’t bad things though! Prepare for them, learn from them, and they’ll help you make better decisions the next time around. If you’re thinking of making your dream a reality, find out the steps you need to take to make it happen, write them down and start checking off that list one by one. The longer you put it off the harder it will be to motivate yourself, so jump to it!
What get’s you out of bed in the morning?
Usually my two dogs wanting their breakfast! But I feel like I’ve wasted the day if I haven’t been outside or achieved something. The promise of a hike or garden stroll will always have me up and about!
Are you a tea or coffee girl?
Definitely tea, with lots of ice and fresh fruit!

How would you describe you style?
Colourful, boho, vintage gypsy.
What makes you smile?
Sunny days, mountain hikes, reading old books, fair trade and environmentally sustainable companies, seeing old couples on dates, my two dogs (or any dogs/animals), tree swings, folk music, kind people 🙂
Who inspires you?
Christiane Amanpour, J.K Rowling, Jane Goodall
Do you have daily rituals that help keep you balanced & happy?
I love to play music and boil a pot of chai on the stove in the mornings to start my day. In the afternoons I walk my dogs and use my acupressure mat to meditate. At least once a week I get out into nature, the mountains or the beach, to balance and re-centre.
What is your favourite room in your home & why?
I love my study because it’s light and airy and filled with books, crystals and plants.
What’s on your bedside table right now?
Oscar Wilde’s Fairy Tales, a wooden essential oil diffuser from Perfect Potion with their “happy and calm” blend (it smells like oranges!), a pair of glasses, lip balm and some teapots filled with plants.
What are your favourite fashion mags?
I love Frankie Magazine and Peppermint Magazine! They’re not entirely fashion mags, there’s also a lot of lifestyle, art and sustainability in there. A lot of my fashion inspo comes from Instagram and op shops!
Finally what is your mantra?
Kindness first 🌸
Love Edwina xx
