Here’s a little bit of history and some tips on how to dress like a modern bohemian…
The bohemian culture is said to date back to the French Revolution when artists, writers and creatives were deprived of their wealthy clients who paid handsomely for their works. The Bohemians found themselves without work and lived nomadic or gypsy lifestyles. The clothing they wore was seen as unfashionable as it was usually old and worn plain and ill-fitting.
What we now see as the Bohemian or boho style is definitely fashionable and here to stay. Embedded in our Western culture by the gypsetting era of the 1960’s and 1970’s where we saw icons such as Stevie Nix and Bridget Bardot to our Modern Bohemian muses Kate Moss & the Olsen twins.

Today we see beautiful bohemian clothing everywhere and on everyone, from our favorite models and celebrities to festival goers and mums hanging out with their children alike. Whether is the floor-sweeping maxi dresses, lace camisoles and flattering kimonos to distressed jeans and bomber jackets. We still associate the Bohemian lifestyle as free spirited, creative and care free.
